Project 06

Echoing its predecessors, Project 06: Same But Not Same sees the development of previously-used geometric shapes coloured in a melange of neutral and metallic hues. The expanded collection is the fruit of the designer’s determination to innovate variations among a sea of conventional styles.

Tone-on-tone looks dominating the assemblage celebrate human beings’ sui generis skin complexions as well as unique textures through the use of leather, suede and a crinkled, padded fabric.

Meanwhile, the concept of ‘Same But Not Same’ is reinforced in the juxtaposition of the aforementioned and synthetic materials such as silvery textiles, silicon rubber and chain links, that conveys the similarity between humans and their mechanical replica.

Taking cues from voluptuous robots created by prominent Japanese illustrator, Hajime Sorayama, the jewelry collection is accented with greyscale natural stones to correspond with the palette of Project 06’s apparel repertoire. The multi-purpose accessories are meticulously handmade according to the organic body form while reshaping it with a seamless blend of sculptural and geometric elements. more about Karmuel Young X MOUCCM jewelry

XYZ-Coordinate System

Conforming to the theme ‘Same But Not Same’, Karmuel Young gives timeless essentials a mathematical twist. The Cartesian-inspired XY and YZ cuts of tops and pants spotlight various facets for a bold, empowering silhouette, inviting us to explore the multi-dimensional world.

A Cartesian coordinate system in a plane specifies each point uniquely by a pair of numerical coordinates, which are the signed distances to the point from two fixed perpendicular oriented lines, which is identify as 2-dimension plane, while involving 3 axis to create a 3-dimensional form.

In mathematics, physics, and engineering, the first axis is usually defined or depicted as horizontal (X) and oriented to the right, and the second axis is vertical (Y) and oriented upwards. While, the third axis is depth (Z) and oriented inward. The axes may then be referred to as the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis.

In a Cartesian plane one can define canonical representatives of certain geometric figures. XY-plane outline the silhouette in the front. While, YZ-plane illustrate the silhouette at the side or depth.

XY-PLANE CUT
A hyperplane consisting of axes oriented to the right and upwards. Compressed pieces feature protruding seams to accentuate the two-dimensional silhouette.
YZ-PLANE CUT
Enter the third dimension with our newly-developed cut. Extended seams outlining the laterals increase the volume of the garment, fabricating a robust body shape. More about XYZ-Coordinate System
